The EVN International Joint Stock Company (EVNI) is speeding up its investment in hydroelectric power projects in Cambodia and Laos.
The projects include the Ha Se San 2 hydroelectric power project in Se San district of Cambodia’s Stung Treng province, which has been approved by the Government of Cambodia and will be carried out under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) form. EVNI contributed a 51 percent stake to the project.
The 400 MW plant is expected to be built in 2012 and completed by the end of 2016.
EVNI has completed a feasibility study on the Ha Se San1/Ha Se San 5 hydroelectric power plant in Ozdao district of Cambodia’s Rattana Kiri province and Duc Co district of Vietnam’s Central Highland province of Gia Lai.
In addition, it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cambodian Ministry of Industry, Mining and Energy on jointly conducting study on the US$407 million Sekong hydroelectric power project with a designed capacity of 190 MW.
Furthermore, EVNI is preparing to invest in the Nam Mo 1 hydroelectric power project in Laos’ Siengkhouang province which has a total investment of US$119 million.
