KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- Sales of RM71.2 million were generated
during the Showcase Malaysia 2012 which was held for three days in
Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from July 11, 2012.
The sales were for a wide range of products including processed
palm oil products, chocolate and confectionery, pre-mixed coffee and
tea, heat recovery system, energy efficiency technology, solar water
heaters as well as modular building system.
"A number of Malaysian companies participated in the event for
three consecutive years to expand their business in the market where
business opportunities still remain untapped," said Malaysia External
Trade Development Corp (Matrade) Trade Commissioner in Cambodia, Ahmad
Shanizam Ab. Ghani.
Cambodia's Gross Development Product (GDP) has shown a steady
growth of 5.8 per cent between 2007 and 2011 and total trade between
Malaysia and Cambodia had increased by 86.23 per cent to RM994.12
million in 2011 from RM533.8 million in 2007.
Based on Cambodia's total global import, Malaysia was ranked as the ninth source of imports.
