BANGKOK -- The Thai government will not allow a group of nationalists to protest at a main border crossing against the trial of seven Thais in Cambodia, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said Thursday.
The "Thai Patriots Network" has threatened to march to the main Thai-Cambodian border checkpoint in Sa Kaeo to press for the release of the seven Thais being held in Cambodia for illegal entry.
Suthep said the authorities have been trying their best to get the seven Thais released, Bangkok Post website reported.
"But the government cannot stop the Thai Patriots Netork feeling dissatisfied with its efforts," Suthep added.
Thailand and Cambodia have been embroiled in a long-standing border dispute.
