Co-operation drive for VN's bordering provinces

Viet Nam will endeavour to enhance co-operation in all areas between the country and China, especially the comprehensive co-operation between the bordering provinces of the countries.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement while receiving the head of China’s Hainan Province, Luo Baoming, in Ha Noi Thursday.

Dung outlined his pleasure at the fine development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and China and expressed his appreciation to the Hainan Governor and for the province’s businesses paying an official visit to Viet Nam.

He said he believed their presence would make great contributions to furthering the relationship between Viet Nam and China in general and Viet Nam and Hainan Province in particular.

The Hainan Governor confirmed that the co-operative relations between Hainan Province and Viet Nam served as an important component in the comprehensive relations between the two countries.

The Governor affirmed that to make improvements, Hainan Province, in co-operation with China’s relevant agencies, was preparing to open flights and sea routes between cities in Hainan Province and Viet Nam.

In addition, car industry and agricultural machine co-operation between Hainan Province and Vietnamese enterprises had been furthered, said Baoming.

He informed the Prime Minister that the conference between enterprises in Ha Noi Thursday, which was attended by more than 400 enterprises, was successful with 18 contracts worth US$300 million signed.

Dung affirmed the great potential in aviation, marine, education and tourism co-operation between Hainan Province and Vietnamese cities.

PM Dung and Governor Baoming agreed to continuously establish co-operation mechanisms between Hainan Province and Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities in the areas of economy, trade, tourism and transport, as well as the implementation of the Bac Bo (Tonkin) Gulf Delineation Agreement and the Bac Bo (Tonkin) Gulf Fishery Co-operation Agreement.

Also Thursday afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Gia Khiem received Governor Baoming and his delegation.
