The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) and its chapters in the central provinces of Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue held a grand requiem for fallen soldiers at the Road 9 National Cemetery in Quang Tri Province Saturday.
At the ceremony, the VBS praised the patriotism of Vietnamese fighters who sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom and reunification. The requiem lasted until July 26.
Also Saturday, the southern provinces of Kien Giang and Long An each held a solemn memorial service to rebury the remains of a total of 203 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives on battlefields in Cambodia during wartime.
