Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and former Thai Prime Minister
Thaksin Shinawatra visited Cambodia on Sunday to pay their last respect
to Hun Neang, Prime Minister Hun Sen's father, who died of natural
causes at the age of 90 on Friday.
The state-owned National
Television of Kampuchea reported that Nguyen Tan Dung and Thaksin
Shinawatra paid their tribute to late Hun Neang separately on Sunday
afternoon at Prime Minister Hun Sen 's residence near the Independence
Monument in Phnom Penh.
The two high-profile figures expressed
their condolences to Hun Sen over the death of his father, and Hun Sen
extended his gratitude to them for traveling to Cambodia for the
funeral.
Thaksin, deposed in bloodless coup in 2006, is a close
friend of Hun Sen and used to be the economic advisor to the Cambodian
government and Hun Sen from November 2009 to August 2010.
