The southern province of Binh Phuoc on March 20 announced the Prime Minister-approved master plan to develop the Hoa Lu border economic zone through 2025 and inaugurated the Hoa Lu international border checkpoint.
The checkpoint was built in the Hoa Lu border economic zone along the Vietnam-Cambodia border covering nearly 300sq.km. The project will help facilitate trade exchanges and develop tourism between Binh Phuoc and other provinces in the key southern economic region, as well as with the north-eastern provinces of Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.
The checkpoint will connect Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia to other ASEAN and Asian countries through National Highway No13 and a railway line to be built in the future.
After two years of construction, the economic zone has attracted 60 domestic and foreign investors developing projects valued at hundreds of billions of Vietnamese Dong.
