The European Union (EU) will continue to fund activities to promote Cambodia's agricultural sector, official news agency AKP reported on Monday.
The decision was announced by Ambassador David Lipman, head of the EU Delegation to Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar, in his meeting here on Dec. 18 with Cambodia's Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Chan Sarun.
The EU will inject 20 million euro (one U.S. dollar about 0.7 euro) worth funding into Cambodia through collaboration with the Royal Government of Cambodia, Food and Agriculture Organization, and some other non-governmental organizations.
Chan Sarun acknowledged the ongoing support from the EU, especially the strategic process of the support that empowers the community and government counterpart and ultimately provides mastery to the royal government in order to ensure project sustainability.
Meanwhile, he encouraged the EU development partner to focus its agricultural support to the north-western part of the country.
The EU has been investing so far approximately 500 million euro in Cambodia's development.
