Thaksin Shinawatra has left Dubai to join his daughters in Germany, according to his Twitter page.

Thaksin also denied that he stayed in the Cambodian tourist province of Siem Reap.

His daughters Pinthongta and Paethongtarn left Thailand on Wednesday for Berlin, reportedly to attend an exhibition.

Thaksin's former wife, Potjaman na Pombejra, and his son, Panthongtae, have also left the country.

"There was a report I was ordered to move out of Dubai to Siem Reap.

"That's not true," he said in a Tweet. But Panich Vikitsreth, assistant to the foreign minister, said Thaksin was forced to leave Dubai by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government.

Mr Panich said he had received confirmation from a high-ranking officer in the UAE government that Thaksin had left the Gulf state after the government told him to stop using it as a base for political activities.

Mr Panich said the UAE government reasoned Thaksin had violated an agreement allowing him to stay in the country.
