Cambodia’s Angkor Air has begun to turn a profit.
The airline was launched in July as a joint venture between the government and Vietnam Airlines as a means of promoting Cambodia as a tourist destination.
The airline is well capitalised, unlike a previous airline project called Royal Air Cambodge, which folded in 2001 after running up losses of US$30 million.
Cambodia Angkor Air flies between tourist hub Siem Reap and Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City.
Cambodia, which is recovering from nearly three decades of conflict, that only ended in 1998, wants to bring in three million tourists annually by next year.
