Local firm wins Jockey franchise in Cambodia

HCM CITY – Local garment maker Son Kim Fashion, an affiliate of the Son Kim Investment and Development Corp, has won a franchise agreement from US Jockey International for the Cambodian market.

The company has also renewed their contract for Son Kim to sell Jockey underwear products, which are made with imported materials by Son Kim, in Viet Nam for 15 years.

The contracts were awarded based on a 155 per cent growth rate in Jockey product sales in Viet Nam last year.

New animal feed processing plant opens

HAU GIANG — Honkana Vina Co Ltd, an affiliate of the Japanese Honkana Group, held an opening ceremony of its animal feed processing plant in southern Hau Giang Province on Friday.

The 2.8ha, US$1 million plant will supply 7,000 tonnes of products per year, primarily for export to the Japanese market, when it becomes officially operational early next month.

Indochina Plaza Ha Noi opens for business

HA NOI — The US$150 million Indochina Plaza Ha Noi opened its doors last week in Cau Giay District.

Financed by Indochina Capital, the 1.6ha building includes two towers with more than 30 floors each, an office block with 18,000sq.m of Grade A office facilities and a four-storey building offering 30,000sq.m of retail space.

Ca Mau seaport storm shelter starts operation

A storm shelter for ships at Song Doc seaport in Ca Mau Mekong Delta province’s Tran Van Thoi District started operation on Monday. The VND28 billion (US$1.5 million) shelter has a capacity of 1,000 fishing boats.

Thua Thien-Hue joins coast development group

The central Thua Thien-Hue Province became the 25th member of the Partnership Network of Local Government for Sustainable Coastal Development of East Asia (PNLG) last Friday, according to sources from the provincial People’s Committee.

The central coastal province joined PNLG when it met in Bataan City in the Philippines with representatives of 25 provinces and cities from 10 East Asian countries including Cambodia, China, South Korea, Indonesia and Viet Nam.

Quang Ngai farmers receive seed stock

Farmers in flood-stricken areas in Quang Ngai Province have received rice and corn seed-stocks from the provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Department to prepare for the winter-spring crop next month. Quang Ngai People’s Committee spent VND10 billion ($555,555) on the seed stocks for the farmers.

Ministry to plan Long Thanh airport

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has asked the Ministry of Transport to draft a planning project for the Long Thanh International Airport.

The airport will cover 5,000ha in Dong Nai Province’s Long Thanh District, about 40km from HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

The new airport will be able to receive 100 million passengers a year.
