CELEBRATE all things Cambodian at the Springvale Library from November 21-27.
Monday, November 21: Traditional monks’ blessing at 10am to start the celebrations.
Wednesday, November 23: Cambodian fashion parade from 6.30-7.30pm, including traditional wedding clothes.
Thursday, November 24: Cambodian cooking demonstration from 6.30pm. Learn about traditional ingredients and foods. No food tasting available. Bookings essential.
Friday, November 25: Personal journeys from Cambodia featuring Kalyan Ky, author of Under the Bamboo Shoots and Greater Dandenong’s Young Achiever of the Year. People from Cambodia will share their stories.
Saturday, November 26: Chanting monks from 2.40-3pm. No bookings required.
Chai Yum Drumming Group performance. Bookings essential.
Sunday November 27: Bokator demonstration 3pm. Bookings essential. Pouv Pich grew up in war-torn Cambodia and migrated to Geelong with his family before returning to his homeland to learn the ancient martial art of Bokator. Its principals are self-discipline, respect, meditation and natural medicine.
