HA NOI — A Vietnamese company has joined hands with others to build a concrete production plant in Cambodia.
The companies in the joint venture are Thu Duc-Long An Concrete Joint-stock Co, Belgium-based Flendar Concrete Corporation and Cambodia-based 7NG Company.
The US$6 million concrete plant will be built on 6ha of land, 35km northeast of Phnom Penh. The plant will produce concrete power poles, piles, sewer pipes and other concrete construction materials.
Bic C launches promotion plan
HA NOI — To celebrate the International Women's Day on March 8 and promote consumption after the lunar New Year, giant retailer Big C Viet Nam yesterday introduced two promotional programmes: Hail Vietnamese Beauty and Best Prices Ever, set to run through March 20.
The store will offer more than 1,000 renowned comestic brands at discounted prices from 5-50 per cent off, along with activities, such as speaking with a beauty consultant. About 420 essential goods will be sold at discounted rates from 10-50 per cent.
In addition, Big C Deputy General Director Nguyen Thai Dung said the store would negotiate with suppliers to lessen the effects of price adjustments to protect consumers in the coming time.
Fashion company growth jumps
HCM CITY — Indonesian direct seller fashion company Sophie Paris is forecast to achieve more than VND35 billion (US$1.6 million) in sales in Viet Nam and register its 10,000th member nationwide after four months of operation,
The sales figures were released by Sophie Paris Viet Nam general director Nick Jonsson yesterday.
Sophie Paris is a French-owned fashion company selling direct. It is now in four countries including Indonesia, Morocco, Philippines and Viet Nam.
Foreign bank joins Smartlink
HA NOI — Standard Chartered Viet Nam has become the first foreign bank in Viet Nam to join the nationwide Smartlink Network, allowing its cardholders to carry out basic transaction at ATMs within the network.
Currently, Smartlink has a network up to 5,000 ATMs of 30 member banks throughout Viet Nam.
Work starts on delta province port
KIEN GIANG — Construction of a US$51.2 billion port in Kien Giang Province has been approved by the provincial People's Committee.
Hon Chong Port in Binh An Commune, Kien Luong District, will include a 3,200 deadweight tonnage cruise ship wharf and a cargo wharf with a capacity of 700,000-800,000 tonnes per year. (Deadweight tonnage is the weight a ship can safely carry).
Bank, insurer provide e-banking
HA NOI — Vietcombank and AIA Viet Nam Life Insurance Company have launched an insurance premium payment service via internet banking.
The service is available free of charge to customers of AIA who have an account with Vietcombank and have registered to use the internet banking service. — VNS
