The other objective of the fundraiser is to assist our efforts in forming a National Committee, which we require in order to bid on Siem Reap hosting the Skål International World Congress in 2013. We believe hosting such an event may bring up to 2000 visitors to Siem Reap over five days, which will benefit the entire community. Skål International Pattaya was successful in bringing 1700 delegates to the area when they hosted the 2006 World Congress. We anticipate a high attendance on the night and hope to show the local community your commitment to the future of Cambodia’s tourism industry. The Skal movement in Cambodia started in 2007 when a group of leaders in the tourism industry got together to establish the SKAL Club of Siem Reap. The club was so successful that it led soon after to the formation of the SKAL Club of Phnom Penh and the SKAL Club of Sihanoukville-Kep-KohKong. To coordinate SKAL activities, increase awareness of the movements, and expand coverage, the three clubs later joined forces to establish the SKAL National Committee for Cambodia. The efforts of the National Committee will result in increased participation in SKAL International events, such as the Asian area assemblies and the SKAL World Congresses. At this time there are 3 Clubs in Cambodia: SKAL International Siem Reap, SKAL International Phnom Penh, and coming soon, SKAL International Sihanoukville-Kep-KohKong. The SKAL clubs in Cambodia are all healthy and growing and total in-country membership is growing. If you are a hospitality industry professional working in any of our club areas you can find out about membership information from any of the clubs’ officers. All the members of SKAL in Cambodia wish you the best in your hospitality career and we urge you to consider becoming a member of the largest hospitality organization in the world: over 20,000 members in 500 clubs located in 90 countries. Become a member and enjoy all the benefits that SKAL has to offer.
