Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will lead an entourage on a visit to Laos on Thusday, Nov 9, to attend the inauguration of the multi-purpose Nam Theun 2 hydroelectric project, acting government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn said on Tuesday.
The entourage will include former industry minister Suwat Liptapanlop, Energy Minister Wannarat Channukul, vice minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office Issara Sunthornwat, and Mr Panitan.
The inauguration ceremony will be chaired by Lao President Choumaly Sayasone.
Two Thai private companies - Italian-Thai Development (ITD) and Electricity Generating Plc (EGCO) - co-invested in the construction of the project with the Lao government and France's EDF International.
Nam Theun 2 project, in Khammouane province in Central Laos, is a power generating dam with the capacity to produce 920 Megawatt electricity.
Prime Minister Abhisit will pay courtesy calls on high-level Lao leaders for bilateral talks and attend other activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Thai-Lao relations.
