ABOUT 100 children were injured in a stampede at a primary school in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Xinhua news agency reported.
Students at the school in Aksu city were walking down stairs to the playground when some children fell and triggered a stampede, an official said on the condition of anonymity. The injured students were taken to a local hospital and no deaths were reported two hours after the incident occurred. The school has more than 1800 students. Last week, a deadly stampede in Cambodia during the annual water festival left 351 people dead in the country's worst tragedy in decades.
