The 28th ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Senior Officials on Energy Meeting (SOME) opened on Monday in Vietnam's central highlands province of Lam Dong, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
The meeting is held in preparation for the upcoming 28th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting, which will be held on July 22 with the theme of "Energy savings and climate change".
At the 28th SOME, the delegates focused on main issues within the framework of ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation for 2010-1015 period, including ASEAN power grid, Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline, coal and clean coal technologies, renewable energy, and regional energy plans and policies.
ASEAN groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
