Israel government sources have said they believe a diplomatic agreement will stop the aid ship trying to break the Gaza blockade.
The Moldovan-flagged ship has been chartered by a charity which is run by one of Libyan leader Colonel Ghadaffi’s sons.
The ship, which was loaded in a Greek port, is thought to be carrying cargo comprising tonnes of food and medical supplies destined for Palestinians in Gaza.
In May, Israeli marines stormed an aid ship trying to run the blockade.
The ship carried a Turkish flag and pro-Palestinian activists.
Nine were killed in the Israeli operation.
