Sabah, Malaysia- A Yemeni student climbed the tallest mountain in South Asia to raise the Yemeni flag on the top of the Kinbalu Mountain.
Along with 27 other students from different parts of the world, Shihab al-Himiary, a Yemeni student studying in Malaysia climbed the mount of Kinbalu of Sabah province in Malaysia.
Kinabalu Mountain is the highest mountain in South Asia with 4,095m height. In interviews with the Malaysian media, al-Himiari expressed his pride for being the first among the 26 students to reaching the top of the Kinablau Mountain and for being able to raise the Yemeni flag on the top of the mountain. “I felt so happy to see the Yemeni flag hovering high over the clouds,” said al-Himiari.
The competition was organized by Petronas University of Malaysia. The participants came from Yemen, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Mauritania, Iraq, Morocco, Iran, Jordan, Syria, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia , Philippines, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan and Malaysia among other nations.
