UN Leaders Start Tour in Asia

United Nations, Mar 19 (Prensa Latina) Two senior UN officials on Monday undertake two separate tours in Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Cambodia and Thailand.

Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon starts with Indonesia where he�ll meet with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Health, Marty Natalegawa and Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, respectively.

Ki-moon will deliver a speech at the opening of an international conference on defense entitled "Global Security: cooperation and partnerships" and will speak about the work of the so-called UN mission for the maintenance of peace.

Then, Ki-moon will stop in Malaysia, where he will meet with Prime Minister Najib Razak, and Foreign Minister Anifah Aman, will visit a training center of UN blue helmets and participate in events for World Tuberculosis Day on March 24.

Later, Ki-moon will visit Singapore to meet with president, Tony Tan, chief minister, Lee Hsien Loong, the foreign minister, K. Shanmugam.

Finally, he will travel to South Korea, his native country, where he will participate in a so-called summit on nuclear safety.

Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Valerie Amos, will visit Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand to develop an agenda focused on the problems of preparation and coordination for natural disasters.
