Three Thais who have been jailed in Cambodia for trespassing into the country are being freed, Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya said on Monday.
The three were in Siem Reap and would be taken to Phnom Penh Monday's afternoon where they would meet Thai army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Kasit was quoted as saying by English-language Bangkok Post online.
Kasit was in Phnom Penh for commemorating the 60th anniversary of Thai-Cambodian diplomatic relationship while General Prayuth was visiting for familiarizing himself with his Cambodian counterpart after taking the top Thai army post in October.
Sanong Wongcharoen, Lim Phuangphet and Laen Sapsri, all from the northeastern Surin province, were arrested in August this year by Cambodian border patrol police after they strayed across the border. They were sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment.
They were expected to return home soon.
