Vietnamese Authorities Arrested Khmer Krom Activist

Khmer Kampuchea-Krom from Svai Ton district said this evening that Vietnamese authorities have arrested one Khmer Krom Activist whom always leads the villagers to conduct the monstration to demand the land confiscated from Vietnamese authorities in An Giang province.

Mr. Chau Bon, 30 ages, lives Chi Ka-Eng village, Svai Ton district, An Giang province said that he was be sworded by Sen, 28 ages, a Vietnamese in the same village. He thought that Sen had been gotten money from Vietnamese authorities to sword him.

Chau Bon was be sworded at nape at 7:30 PM on May 03, 2009. After he was sworded by Sen, he had been sent to the hospital. Vietnamese authorities did not arrest the sworder, but they still threatened to arrest Chau Bon when he came back from hospital.

Today (May 05) at 3:00 PM Mr. Chau Bon was be arrested by Vietnamese authorities and then sent him to Chau Lang commune, Svai Ton district. While he was sending to police location, he was be hitted by them and asked him many question including the question who ordered him and the villagers to conduct the monstration, and reported any activites to overeas (Khmer Krom in USA).

According to information from Kampuchea-Krom, Mr. Chau Sok said that Chau Bon who was be arrested last evening, now be released after torturing by polices. Chau Sok said Chau Bon was be sworded by other Vietnamesse, but the authorities did not arrest the sworder; furthermore, they arrested Chau Bon. This is injustice...

Anyway, Chau Bon was be released from Chau Lang commune at 6:00 PM after he was be tortured by polices and threatened him to not join conduct the demonstration to demand the farm land like before. If he still goes with other villagers, he will be sent to correct, or prison.
