The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will join hands with the Ministry of Education and Training to implement a pilot programme promoting the Vietnamese language among the overseas Vietnamese community from now until 2010.
Approved by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem, the programme will be conducted in Laos, Cambodia, Russia, the Czech Republic, the US and Canada this year.
This pilot effort will coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training’s project to assist the regular teaching of modern Vietnamese to Vietnamese expatriates, through the provision of teaching materials and methodologies.
Based on the results of the pilot programme, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will develop a more comprehensive project to promote the Vietnamese language among overseas Vietnamese, which will be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval.
