The Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) on January 29 presented equipment to the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs to build its version of the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Development Triangle Portal.

The one-tonne package is comprised of computers, photocopiers, scanners and office equipment.

This was the result of the CLV Development Triangle Coordinating Meeting, according to which the MPI will build a single portal for the three countries.

The portal will provide information relating to the three countries, their administrative procedures, investment environment and potential, as well as provinces lying in the development triangle. The information will be published in four languages: English, Vietnamese, Lao and Cambodian.

The same day, a plastic pipe factory, a joint venture between the Hai Phong-based Thieu Nien Tien Phong Plastic Joint Stock Company (TNTP) and Laos’ SMP Co. Ltd, was inaugurated in Vientiane.

Covering 7,500 sq.m, the US$3.5 million factory is designed to produce between 8-10 tonnes of materials per day in the first phase.
